Hair Growth

Tips & Tricks to Growing Out Hair

  • Avoid Heat! You don't have to avoid heat forever but too much is horrible for your hair. Just give it up for a certain amount of time
  • Protective Hair Styles/ Braids, Buns, etc.
  • Use a wide tooth comb or finger detangle rather than using brushes
  • Don't fall for "Oh you have to get your hair cut every 6 weeks" You don't! Length will never be obtained that way. 2 to 3 times a year will suffice unless your ends start splitting.
  • Take vitamins such as folic acid or biotin. Biotin strengthens your hair causing it to grow
  • Oils like coconut oil, jojoba oil, and olive oil (Put it at your roots and the ends of your hair)
  • Deep conditioning treatments. Moisture is so important (You can make your own at home or buy some) Focus less on your roots and more on the rest of your hair when deep conditioning because it's more damaged and older
  • Wash your hair once or twice a week (When you shampoo, ONLY SCRUB YOUR ROOTS! Forget what those girls do in the Pantene commercials. When you rinse out the shampoo it will cleanse the rest of your hair without stripping natural oils.)
  • Drink a lot of water
  • Be Patient!

Yes To Carrots Review

  Yes To Carrots Review

I’ve been eager to try this product out for a while and I'm glad that I finally did. I find the price to be quite practical at about $8 at wal mart. There is plenty of it in the bottle and I know that it will last me even when I use a generous amount. I bought this because I needed an everyday conditioner that didn't cost a fortune but that also was natural and lacked harsh chemicals.
It leaves my hair feeling moisturized and I just love it. It has a light clean smell and that's how I can tell that it's not packed with perfumes and chemicals. I like organic products and this really works. This conditioner has left my curls bouncy and very soft. It isn't too heavy for my hair and it's not too light. I recommend this product to everyone, not just curlies!

Tips for Healthy Curls

My Curls

Here's a few quick tips for healthy curls:

  • Moisture (Conditioner is our friend!)
  • Avoid using towels when drying your hair (Use a t-shirt or microfiber towel)
  •  Shampoo about once a week (Too much shampoo can strip the hair of the essential oils that it needs)
  • Deep Conditioner Treatments (You can buy one or make your own at home)
  • Avoid brushes (Use a wide tooth comb or your fingers)
  • AVOID HEAT

Product Review

Hello Curly Ladies!

I'm starting this blog to discuss hair care, products, styles and more!

Recently I started using the brand DevaCurl. At first I didn't like it too much. It didn't change my hair at all and in fact added more frizz! Frizz is my arch nemesis. I scheduled a hair cut with a Deva Stylist and she showed me how to use the product. My hair was literally perfect. Turns out, I wasn't using enough gel. She also gave me tons of great tips for curly hair care.
No-Poo: A. This product is wonderful . I hate shampoo. It makes my hair feel stripped, dry and dull. The No-Poo is creamy and does not create suds like shampoos filled with detergent. I scrub my scalp and let the rest run through my hair, and guess what? No stripped feeling!

As far as gel is concerned, I don't like how most leave my hair feeling. That crunchy feeling is just a flat out "NO!" in my book. the DevaCurl leaves a cast around your curls that holds them in place. When you no longer want the cast you scrunch your hair with your hands to remove it. I love that concept.
The only problem I have with the DevaCurl product line, is the price!
