Favorite Deep Conditioner

I have recently come across the best deep conditioner I have ever used. It combats frizz and makes my hair soft and shiny. I was a bit skeptical about the concoction at first and you may be too, but trust me curlies, It works wonders.
I've been trying to find an easy and not so messy D.I.Y conditioner for months and I finally have.

Ingredients
Castor Oil
Mayonnaise
Olive Oil
3 simple ingredients really work wonders. I first warm the olive oil in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, then add the mayo and castor oil.  I got my castor oil at Kroger for less than $4 and it has lasted me months. Castor oil is great at promoting hair growth and that's why I added it to the mixture.
I spray my hair down with a water and jojoba oil mix I have in my water bottle. I don't soak my hair, I just get it damp. I then add the conditioner to all sections of my hair. Since I always have some leftover, I coat the ends of my hair in it. I leave it in my hair for 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on what I'm doing.
I have noticed a great change in my hair after using this once a week for a month. I love it!

Review on Miss Jessie's Leave In Condish

I know it has been months since I wrote a review, but I have been so busy with school. Sorry about that! Now I am back to it. This review will be on the Miss Jessie’s Leave in Condish.
I was randomly sent a FREE sample from the company. That's one major aspect about Miss Jessie's that I love. It let's me know that they are thinking about their customers by sending us samples. I gave it a try. The first thing I noticed of course was the smell. It smelled like old man cologne to be honest. Other than that I am so glad that I gave this Leave-in a try. It's the best EVER! I The beautiful results have made me forget the smell!  The results are excellent. I do not have to use a lot of this product to get perfect results and that’s what I love when using products.  It was so easy to get through my hair and the results were a Godsend. I got the perfect amount of definition and volume. This leave in is now and will always be a staple and I will always have it in my cabinet.
This product can be purchased at target and for an online alternative missjessies.com or amazon. Miss Jessie’s is having a 40% off sale on all products. I got the bottle for $6. A great deal!

Kinky Curly Knot Today Review

This product has easily become something that I wont stop buying. I bought it a Whole Foods in a 12oz. bottle for $11. For some thicker hair curlies this my be a problem but for me it's an okay amount. I wish it were more for the price but I can live with it considering the results I got were perfection. It smells exactly like the Curl Enhancing Smoothie by Shea Moisture. It has great slip and that helps a lot with working out those knots and naps. I was pleased that I did not have to use a large amount. I compared it with other conditioners when detangling and there was a significant difference. I got the best results from letting my hair air dry. I will not go without this product ever! It's the ultimate knot fighter!

Avoiding Frizz

Frizz, as I have stated multiple times is my arch nemesis! It can ruin my day and mood.
I know all my fellow curlies suffer from it from time to time if not everyday so I'll give some tips on how to fight it!

  1. Get rid of those split ends! If you don't, they'll travel higher up and cause frizz at the ends of your hair thus causing it to look a mess and who has time for that? Not me!
  2. Moisture Girl! Condition for your life. Curly hair needs moisture and without it, a dry frizzy mop is the result.
  3. Don't take a regular body towel to those curls. You might as well be raking velcro across your head. Use a paper towel, napkin or shirt instead.
  4. Stay away from brushes. Just run any brush you have over with a car. A wide tooth comb or your fingers will do the trick.
  5. Apply all your products when you hair is soaking wet
  6. Sleep on a satin pillow case or wrap your head up in a satin scarf when you sleep
  7. Don't even thing about touching your hair after all the product is in it and styling has taken place!
  8. If you don't have time to air dry use a diffuser.
  9. Don't shampoo a lot. Natural oils are being stripped from the hair causing...you guessed it, FRIZZ.
I hope these tips help anyone suffering from the plague of frizz!

Hair Journey

I'm going to list a couple pictures below of natural hair journies for inspiration to those of you who are transitioning, giving up heat and damaging products, or may have just big chopped!

@locksofcurlss on Instagram
The top left picture is from 2009. Her hair was suffering from a lot of damage. Her current picture from 2013 shows off her gorgeous, voluminous curly locks that many of us curlies want to obtain.
The bottom two pictures were taken a year apart and her hair grew a lot! I can't wait to see her curls as time passes.

The Big Chop! I have watched many youtube videos and read a lot about it. Almost every single girl said they had trials and difficulties to overcome but it was all worth it. Her hair has grown beautifully into those cute ringlets seen in the bottom right picture. Hair will grow! It just needs to be cared for correctly. The picture pretty much speaks for itself!

I will continue featuring women on my blog to help others with their journeys. I hope this helps anyone who feels discouraged about their hair for whatever reason it may be.

Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls Review

This is my short and not so sweet review on Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls. I was really excited to try Jelly Soft Curls. It had very few bad reviews which I was excited about. The bottle states that it’s “for people who want poppin’ curls without the crunch” Who doesn’t want that?!
I received nothing of the sort however. The gel is very thick and weighs my hair down. The first time I tried this product I let me hair air dry and the result was frizz, a curly girls arch nemesis. The second time I tried it, I used a diffuser. Once again halo of frizz is what I received.
I love my curls to be defined and have quite a bit of volume and this product had my hair looking lifeless. I am not downing this product for other people’s curls but it is just not for me! I wish I had one good thing to say about it, but unfortunately I don’t.
